Drawing is like a first date. I explore an idea by drawing; if it resonates with me, then I will pursue it in paintings. Often during the painting process I have regrets and occasionally I divorce the idea and move on— sometimes with sadness and a feeling of failure. Other times I grit my teeth and force myself through the wall of self-doubt and struggle and paint.
